Everyone knows about the bios lockout. What I've been wonder is how to put together a workaround. I haven't been able to find the Broadcom card in anything other than the PCIe card. There doesn't appear to be a 34mm or 54mm external card available. What I'm wonder is if I can take a Sierra u595 modem that's little more than a Sierra PCIe card inside of a usb adapter housing and install the Decoder card in it's place. In theory, It looks as if it might work.
Has anyone thought of trying this yet? I have a X61T with the 1400x1050 screen that I can't use for anything but standard definition TV shows and movies.

That won't work. ExpressCard can either be USB or PCIe (or both) based. All those USB 3G dongles are just that, USB only. The broadcom is PCIe based, so that won't work. Unless you can hack that BIOS of yours, I don't think you are going to be able to use the Broadcom HD card in your X61t.

If the bios doesn't halt the bootprocess with a "Incorrect WLAN card detected.. blah blah", then can do the whitelst.bat workaround to get the broadcom HD card working. This is how I've got around the HP 2510P's mPCIe whitelisting without needing to keeping plugging and unplugging the wifi card.
A possible work around to use the Broadcom HD decoder with Lenovo laptops
