    Hi all

I would like to first thank all of those in this forum for thier help and appreciate them helping me in one way or the other for the purchase of my first laptop...a T61 (see specs below).

This is truly one kick ass computer with awesome look and feel. The keyboard is really good and so is the screen. Although a little heavy (with a 9 cell), and a creacking slimbay drive(DVD); for the price i have bought it (~$1100), it is totally worth every single penny. The LCD screen has *no* dead pixels and very little light leakage.

The Lenovo shipping too was very quick (recieved the machine in 9 days). The only issue is with the innumerable number of programs and s/w that come installed with it, eventually lead to a slower machine when it is booting up. Otherwise, I have to say this machine runs quietly and coolly(if there is such a word) disguising the massive computing power inside it.

So, once again I thank all of those in these forums and will be posting the pics of the screen and some performance analysis after I reinstall the OS.

    ---

Hey I just got mine today and I was wondering if you could tell me if your LCD bleeding is comparable?

there are other threads of people who had similiar bleeding......supposedly tech support stated that such light bleeding is within specifications.

You should search the other threads.

PS, my T61 didn't have such light bleeding and I'd find it unacceptable for any computer nowadays to have such bleeding. It's 2007.

    That would annoy me.

Has the picture been taking at the best possible angle, when it bleeds light the least?
Cause it's a tricky comparison, since the viewing angles can greatly affect the results.

My T61p is pretty similar to that in some conditions - never really been a problem though, TBH.

mine has a faint line along the bottom of light leakage....nothing noticable unless i open the lid almost all the way flat and angle it to see it.

I have the 14" wxga samsung i believe...I would take a pic...but my treo can't even connect to 64bit vista...i will try later...but for imagination purposes...imagine the picture in this thread..and imagine that for the entire screen..at least there is no sparkle like my last screen...which was quite annoying and made you rub your eyes every minute due to strain

You have the exposure settings on your camera too high – it’s picking up light you can’t see with the naked eye. You can tell by looking at the icons on your desktop that are bright and washed out. Also, the perspective of the camera is too high – it’s picking up even more light because you’re looking down into the LCD backlight. You can tell because the top edge of the screen is visible.

Try making the picture look more realistic by reducing the exposure and taking it at eye level.

Mine can look pretty bad too if I try, but it doesn’t bother me either. I wonder if matte screens reveal light leakage more than glossy screens…

Boy oh boy. Hard to believe they have yet to resolve the light bleed issue. I received my T61 back in June after a 7 week wait. It was the 14.1" WXGA+ and it leaked like a sieve. I returned it for a FULL refund at that time. I guess they've had so many go back that they dropped the 100% refund and the wxga+ screen as well.

The bottom half of the T61 is rock solid in my view. The top half (Lcd portion) is a design/engineering/manufacturing nightmare. Light bleed and mismatched bezel and frame causing the snap-crackle-pop sound really calls for a T62 to save the coveted name.

wow, i thought the screens were supposed to look like that, since mine looks like that and it's my first laptop. after reading everybody's comments though, i think it may be a problem. whatever though, i got used to it, ignorance is bliss i guess.
