Well first of all I hope this is question is appropriate because this question is for my IBM NetVista machine but I've done some research and all IBM/Lenovo systems DO have this program. Well My PC recently bummed out on me for some reason, XP loading screen shows but keeps restarting to the IBM System BIOS so I have thought about using the IBM Product Recovery Program v 5.8 in question. I don't have an XP Home CD laying around which came preinstalled with my system, which I bought directly off IBM Canada (refurbished machine).I feel I have nothing else to do because my PC won't respond so IF I do go along with the IBM Product Recovery will I still need an XP disc? Will it just erase everything or will it install XP Home again for me, I'm not exactly too sure what will happen and very cautious on what will happen if I do go along with this. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

if you use the recovery.. you shouldnt need a xp disc.. it should have a hidden partition with the recovery on it.. it more then likely will be a destructive recovery.. thus meaning it will wipe your information from the drive and restore it back to "factory" setup..

what exactly is your system doing? starting winxp and then restarting? have you tried to goto safe mode? hit F8 during startup and then select "safe mode" to see if it will go into safe mode..

Thanks for the quick response. Yes I have tried safe mode several times, and all other booting options available several times, it does show the Windows XP loading screen with the bar beneath the logo moving but when it comes time to show the login screen, it just reverts back to the original BIOS as if I just turned on the computer. Also to add I haven't made any recent hardware/software installations/changes.
