Hi,
I'am about to buy a thinkpad t560 but I've got two little questions:
1. How is the surface? Does it get fast dirty?
2. Does the trackpoint allow smooth and accurate scrolling (web browsing etc.)? The trackpoint from my old latitude is pretty much garbage..
thanks a lot.

It's grippy, so you don't drop it, but that means stuff sticks to it. I never found it to a problem, but that may be open to interpretation.
I find my Latitude to be at least serviceable, but not as good as a ThinkPad. -
Personally, I've had no problem scrolling with the trackpoint + middle button. Actually, I think it's better than using the touchpad for that purpose since I don't have to reposition my finger(s) while scrolling.

Depends on the Thinkpad. My T440s doesn't have the rubberized coating that older Thinkpads like my T500 did, so it doesn't pick up dirt at all. I don't believe the T560 has a rubberized lid either, so it should be easy to keep clean, and you can simply wipe it clean every once in a while with rubbing alcohol.

Coming from the W550s, if the T560 would retain the same coating, I would definitely say its rubberized.
Of course, T560 might have a whole different coating, we will see. -
My W530 has the rubberized coating, and it does pick up fingerprints and smudges on the lid. However, the aesthetic of a matte black system with some smudges isn't as bad as a shiny system with smudges, so at least it's got that.
I never thought I'd use the trackpoint button when I bought my computer, but I found it's really convenient for moving around in certain games while keeping my fingers on the keyboard. It's very accurate and useful for precise movements. -
Okay thank you.
Hopefully the t560 wont have the rubberized coating. Its one of these things that I hate. If its just on the lid, its whatever.. but if its on the handball pad (-> google translator, hopefully you know what I mean), its a no-go for me.
One other question: Are the fans really that quiet like notebookcheck is testing it? They measure like on full load 35db on t550, t450, 450s. I'am probably going to get the t560 with nvidia 940mx, hopefully the fans wont go crazy then. -
Fan noise is different with each model. For my system, there were at least 2 BIOS updates that specifically addressed fan noise. You can also run Thinkpad Fan Control on any Thinkpad, which will allow you to determine how the fans work

My X220 is quiet, but T430 was noisy until I started to use tpFanControl.
A few questions to Thinkpad Owners
