I just bought a T61 notebook, which is my first notebook and Thinkpad. :) Just to ask:

-Does the Fingerprint reader on the T61 works only for Windows logon? Can it be use for any other app?

    - About the power manager, there's a Low battery alarm setting, is it really an "alarm", which will produce a sound or just a message poping out?

    And just out of curosity,

    - Do Thinkpad Owners prefer the Trackpoint or the normal touchpad? I personally feel that the Trackpoint feels more natural.

    - When I go on Lenovo product page, the R and X Series Thinkpads have a certain Red stripe on the mousepad buttons but not the T series. Any particular reason for that?

    Cheers.

    I'll answer what I can.

The ThinkPad low battery alarm can be set to make a sound or alert you with a popup window.

TrackPoint is the only way to use a ThinkPad. ;)

The only ThinkPad with the red stripes on the buttons as of currently is the ThinkPad X300.

    Hi,

    yes i can confirm!
The german lenovo pages show also and suddenly red stripes on ultranav.
R und T models are painted, like in the past days.

the fingerprint reader should also work with Firefox and Plug in.

Good Luck and be happy with your system!

The fingerprint reader can also be used instead of a boot/bios password, a feature I always wanted and now have.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Umm, in the power manager, under the alarm section, notification drop down box, the only avaliable options are On and off. I didn't see any options that allow me to set as a sound or a popup Window. Or am I missing something?

    Cheers.
