I am going to buy a T61 and separate large LCD monitor for my home office.

To make this whle thing work, should I buy mini dock or port replicator? Or I dont have to buy anything. Never did this before. Please advise.

What is the viewing experience difference between 14'' WXGA and SXSGA+? I have a strange feeling about WXGA. At this moment, I have 15.4'' WSXGA+ and I feel comfortable with that. Is 14'' WXGA is physically smaller PROPORTIONALLY than my 15.4WSXGA?

Does "Genuine Windows Vista Business 64" mean 64-bit vista business? Can I continue to use many of my Windows application currently running on XP?

    Thanks for your input!

If your home office monitor can take analogue input (most can) then you can plug it into the 15-pin VGA output on the Thinkpad.

If the monitor has only digital inputs (DVI) then you will need the mini-dock or advanced dock. The port replicator does not have DVI out.

If your printer is not USB or Ethernet then you will also need a dock.

i think that the 14 inch one wouldnt be widescreen so if thats not a big deal to you (some people only like standard screen) then it should be pretty good. so it would be a bit smaller and narrower then your 15.4 inch screen that u already have.

Can you clarify? there is no SXSGA+

YES. The 14" widescreen loses some hieght off the top.

I never knew a 14 standard had the same height as a 15 wide! Anyway, I've got a 14 standard and I love it.

I visited a coffee shop the other day and I was the only one there with a tall screen. I felt so special. Others might say prehistoric, but that's okay!
