I am very close to purchasing a Thinkpad T61p, but have a few final questions.
1. Is the Intel Turbo Memory a standard component? I'm in Australia and we have NO customization options when buying Thinkpads besides memory. So if it's not standard, I have no way of getting it. But does it really make a big difference?
2. Is there any reason why a gamer wouldn't buy a T61p? From what I'm told the FX570 is currently the best 15" notebook GPU.
Thanks!

Both are commonly asked questions that could be found in searches...
Turbo memory is really debate able and it depends on who you ask. I believe that isn't that useful as most tests show very little improvement above 1gb of memory and in some cases it decreases performance with large amounts of ram. I wouldn't worry about it...just get more memory if you really want a performance boost.
The FX570 is the best workstation gpu...and it gets the best benchmarks for a 15" notebook...but from what I've been told that the geforce cards are better for gaming then the quadro's...you can even put a geforce driver on your quadro card if your gonna be gaming...there's a few instructions on how to do it on these boards...
Have fun...I love my t61p...! -
1. Not sure if it's a standard component or not, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't make a huge difference.
2. Reasons for a gamer not to get a T61p? I can only think of one: Upcoming 8800M GT [or was it GTS?]
edit: about Quadro VS GeForce, I think drivers will do the trick for gaming performance on the Quadro? -
Here's the quadro to geforce link, btw:
