Hey guys..I have a different sort of question about the diff b/w wxga and wxga+ screen.....From searching...i found that people usually say its only a difference of "real estate"

BUT...if I took the 2 14" screens side by side and made it so the icons are similar size on the desktop...can one really notice a difference in the screen quality?

It really sucks that they don't offer the wxga+ on the 14" screen...I don't want to jump to a 15" because those are huge...I want a balance b/w portability and actually being able to see the screen

Does a WXGA screen look pixelated in comparison to the +? Thanks guys..

i dont want the + so i can make the icons really small and use more "real estate" because I never usually have more than 1 screen open...but I want to have the best clarity possible. thank you.

The WXGA+ is brighter (200 nits vs 180 nits). This is the primary reason I got it with WXGA+. Historically, thinkpad screens have been a bit dim.

The WXGA+ screens are in extremely short supply right now. All the companies that sell them, like Dell, HP and Lenovo, are quoting 15+ business days for their arrival. I think lenovo removed the option to get a WXGA+ temporarily until they can secure sufficient supply to meet the demand. Hope that helps...

I have a regular aspect T43 SXGA and a T61 WXGA+ and the new T61 is significantly brighter than the T43. I believe the new T61 4:3 screen is the same amount of Nits as the older T4x. On the T43, I have 7 bars of brightness to adjust and on the T61, i believe it is 15 bars. I have both computers set at 4 bars when plugged in and the T61 brightness is still brighter at 4 bars which is roughly around 1/4 the amount it can go up up to compared to the 4/7 on the T43.

I recently ordered an 14'1 R61 with the wxga+ screen.

As some of you may already know, this order was cancelled.

When I look at tabook.pdf it shows me

    15.4" (391mm) WXGA (1280x800) color, 200 nits, 16:10 aspect ratio, 300:1 contrast ratio, anti-glare

So the 15.4" WXGA is brighter than the 14.1" WXGA?

    Ah, for the 14.1"

    14.1" (358.1mm) WXGA (1280x800) color, 185 nits, 16:10 aspect ratio,
    300:1 contrast ratio, anti-glare

For the WXGA: when plugged in = 185 nits, when on battery = 180 nits. I've heard you can disable the power save when on battery so it will be 185 nits, but I don't know how.

Also, remember that this is the minimum brightness. There was a test done (don't remember which site) on the T61 that showed the center of the WXGA to be about ~200 nits, with only the very left side at ~185 nits.

I just got my 14.1 R61 tonight, has WXGA...The screen quality is unacceptable compared to the Sony it is replacing. The fonts appear jagged, not smooth. The color white looks like a screen door? grids...If I upgrade to T61 with SWXGA+ could I expect better clarity, smoother appearance ? Does the Video card have anything to do with the quality/clarity?

I have a 14.1 T61 with the standard display (SXGA+) and the screen is plenty bright, the brightness control moves 15 steps, not 7.

Is there any software that can be used to increase the brightness?
