    Hello,

I'm back at work this morning and I connected for the first time my new X230T (with the ultrabase) to my 24'' Samsung 2220WM and my USB keyboard.
I installed the drivers for that monitor, but there doesn't seem to be a Windows 8 driver that exists on the Samsung site. In any ways, the "old" driver look to have installed fine, the display is fine in 1980x1200, but when I check out the Display section on the desktop, it only mentions "VGA display peripheral" and not "Samsung 2220WM", as it was the case when I connected my Dell XPS 16 to that same monitor. Is it normal? Also, if I try to "connect it to a projector", it says there are no projectors connected, even though it's actually the case.

Also, I was wondering if the X230T is made to work all the time with the cover closed, or if it'll overheat that way. My Dell XPS 16 could not be always closed because it became way too hot, so I had to let it slightly open. But as the X230T is supposed to work as a tablet also, I assume that it's not a problem to let it always with the cover closed?

    Thanks.

I would presume that all of the dockable ThinkPads should be designed to work with the lid closed, and especially the x230t due to the tablet use case. At the very least, I've never heard of anyone having issues running their x-tablet series in tablet mode.

Finally, I connected the X230T to a 24'' Lenovo ThinkVision L2440P wide monitor. I can't find Windows 8 drivers for that monitor, and it doesn't seem to be detected by Windows 8 when it's connected to the ultrabase, as I mentioned in my previous message. Anyone can help?

BTW, I feel the image is far to be as good with the X230T connected to that L2440P monitor, than it was when my Dell XPS 16 laptop was connected to the same monitor. Is it because the native resolution of the Dell was 1980x1080 and so was closer to the native resolution of the monitor (which is 1980x1200) vs the native resolution of the X230T, that is only 1366x768? I feel the image lacks some brightness, but it's already at 100% in the X230T settings.

    Thanks.

Most laptops (Thinkpads included) do run a few degrees warmer with the lid closed, but it has never been a problem for me on any Thinkpad. You should be fine.
