    Hi,
I just received my T61 and I am enjoying typing on it as this is my first ThinkPad. On the bottom side of my T61, at the corner where the DVD player is, there are three holes. The top two of which have screws in them. The 3rd does not. It looks to me like the 3rd should also have a screw in it. If someone owns a T61, can you tell me if yours has a screw in the middle 3rd hole. I could not find this info from the manual. TIA

Are you referring to the screw slot about an inch below the rubber feet?

That is normal. If you go back and check the items that came with your laptop you'll find the screw that belongs. The screw is intended to keep the optical drive in place and render it unremovable.

    Yes
I went back and look for the screw in my package and found two with (I think) hexagonal caps but the caps look more round. I wouldn't know how to put the screw back in. Thanks for the help, Arkit3kt.

You don't need to have a screw set there.

Thanks. I can imagine what you are saying is correct. However, it would do great for my anxiety if I know all of my screws are in the right place. Besides, I don't want to entertain thoughts of someone pulling DVD burner out and walking away with it. If I can't find the screw, then I will call Lenovo tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

Your comment is puzzling. You wouldn't want to entertain thoughts of someone pulling it out? First of all, what the hell does that mean. All of ur comments are confusing like this and it'd do a lot for ur comprehension-ism if u just pulled out that heavy literature -- there's no better way to be understood than to use simplicity and the basics. Secondly, who would pull out ur optical drive (it's called an opt. drive, not a dvd burner; the dvd burning part is a bonus FEATURE of ur drive in particular) while u're traveling with it?

Yup, those are the correct screws. You'll need an allen wrench.
