I just picked up this one today:

ThinkPad T61 with Integrated Graphics - 1 Year Depot Warranty
    $1,334.00

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz 800MHz 4MBL2)[1]
    Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium[12]
    14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/o Camera
    Intel GMA X3100 GM965 w/ 1394
    2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
    UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
    80GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm[4]
    CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim[5]
    ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ[10]
    6 cell Li-Ion Battery[60]
    7658: 1 Year Depot Warranty - Express[7]

I bought it today as I thought the sale was going to end (it says it is a Fathers Day sale). Did I make any mistakes? Thoughts?

Err, well not sure what you would consider a mistake...what are you going to use it for?

That said, offhand, if you have a strong business need for the machine, as might be expected from buying a Thinkpad, you might try Vista Business instead of Home Premium.

Good point. Can you direct me to a good comparison of the Vista O/S?

Go ahead and get Vista Ultimate, it has everything. All the business options plus the vista home options.

Well, tomorrow may be another sale, maybe even better :)
I would just order minimum RAM (512) from Lenovo and buy it elsewhere, say Newegg - 2x1GB for $80
In my opinion, you would be just fine with T7300, but that's your choice

if youa re a student, you can more than likely get a better deal on Ultimate. No need to pay lenovo for it. i just get basic, then update on my own

i dunno, i'd stick w/ xp if possible. There are still many software incompatibilities, especially if you are in the grad finance sector (monarch, essbase hyperion, etc). That's particularly the main reason why many firms still have not moved to vista business (that and $$ and pains of upgrading). your choice though, hehe
