Hey everyone,
I received my Y580 a week ago and most things are going great.
Just yesterday, I booted up my laptop like normal and I couldn't connect to anything so I checked the device manager. Under the network devices section, every single device had an exclamation point next to it. I decided to revert to a system restore point and that seemed to fix it. Does anyone know what could have caused this to occur?
Also, when I play games, I'm a little concerned about the fan noise. I was expecting it to just sound like air being blown, but instead, I hear feint clicking. Does anyone experience this too? I can post an example if I have to.
Thanks.

Bump.
And also, what are normal temps for the i7 3610m? -
I put temps from two different y580s in this review:

Neither y580 makes any sort of clicking at all. I wonder if either you have a bit of paper or something stuck in the fan (hopefully that rather then a fan going out!) -
Clicking-definitely not normal.

Max temp is 105 degrees C so you're fine. At that point your cpu would be shutting down. Laptops get warm when you play games.. if you are not comfortable with that then stick with a desktop for gaming.

I wanna piggyback on this thread with another q..
does partitioning the hard drive cause factory restore to fail ?
on the HP dv6, clean installing windows makes factory restore fail -
Okay, I called up Lenovo support and after waiting what seemed like forever, I had the guy listen to my fan on both full load and idle and any squealing, clicking, etc. (anything that isn't just air being blown out) means there is a defect or something scratching internally. I'm getting the laptop replaced and hopefully I'll have no defects with my new one Thanks guys for the help!

No. I am going to keep the factory partition.
I ask because I had an HP dv6z recently, and clean installed windows while keeping the restore partition.
But after clean install, HP restore could not locate the restore partition anymore, even though it was still there.
I need to know if lenovo bios can still see the restore partition even if I clean install. -
Okay here is an update.
I received my replacement laptop today, and was shocked to turn it on and hear the fan clicking even louder than my original! I am extremely upset with Lenovo and don't know where to go from here.
It would be fantastic if someone with a Y580 could make a YouTube video or something just showing off the fan noise when, idle, gaming, etc. so I have something to compare mine to.
Thanks. -
Just received mine Monday. No need for a YouTube video in my opinion, as it is whisper quiet. Even while doing taxing and intense work, it is a strong 'whirrrr' (though not even as loud as my laptop cooler!) and most DEFINITELY not a click. I know this is the last thing you want to hear (since Lenovo takes their time to say the least) but you got another defective unit.
Best of luck with your future replacement. -
third one's the charm ? -
Alright guys, so I got my second replacement yesterday and the fan is silent! Unfortunately, it also has a sticky left shift key. I'm using this laptop for gaming a lot, so this is a vital key.
Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix a sticky key? I would describe it as not easy to push down almost like there is something under it. It only acts weird about 1 in 3 times I press it. -
i dunno. maybe try pressing shift a thousand times to loosen it up?
