I was looking at buying a t61p or possibly t500/w500? if they come out and are still in my price range

I was configuring a t61p recently and noticed for the past few weeks you cant customize it with a 9cell battery, does anyone have an idea why you can't?

Is it possible it has something to do with the factory fires recently or some other cause like the 6 cell is updated or they are coming to the end of the generation and are slowing down 9-cell production?

If this was posted somewhere else, please point me in the correct direction

I was able to get a 9 cell battery after it disappeared from the configuration menus because I had a price quote saved with the 9 cell battery. I got my laptop yesterday, with the 9 cell. You should call them and order.

That's good advice, I had a laptop with the 9-cell all wrapped up in a quote, but it was over 30 days or something like that. You could be lucky like I was and scoop one up locally from a liquidated CompUSA (actually another company now) for dirt cheap.

I called yesterday and was told there was no way of getting a 9 cell battery. I may call again on Monday and beg. Apparently there was a fire...

I'm just gonna save and buy a new one when this one runs out from charges anyway

Order it seperatley. That's what I had to do with my R61 as well got a 90w adaptor for it after reading the thread about power adaptors. Besides, havings two might be useful one for the desk and one on the go :).

They do this from time to time. The 9 cell battery option will return, don't worry.

You can buy a 9 cell T60 battery, it's the same as the T61.

Only problem with that is Im pretty much at budgets end around 1250 + 4gb ram so buying a battery for almost 200 bucks isnt really the best option at this point :p

do you really need 4gb...? unless your trying to make a juiced machine or you really need it, 4gb is overkill for most ppl that have it.

my guess...and it's only a guess...is that the new line of thinkpads are going to have a 9-cell battery that is the same form and size as the 6-cell batteries...that's probably why the 9-cells are no longer available.

I think I recall reading about that 9cell being smaller, so maybe they are putting it out now or something and starting manufacturing because then nobody will want large ones

As for 4gb ram, I will probably be running 3dsmax and inventor on it with probably 500 parts on the inventor project if I go into a lot of detail, plus the cost of 4gb ram is about 65 bucks AR from newegg, vs about 30 to go to 2gb from lenovo. and 60 to go to 2gb in 1 stick.
