    9 Cell battery for the ideapad Y530

    Hi,

    I recently purchased the ideapad Y530 model for my father.

    The laptop is pretty good with the exception of the battery life. The battery only lasts unplugged for 2 hours (2.5 hours tops) with Vista Premium. The battery is 6 cell.

    I tried but couldn't find any 9 cell batteries for this model, and for most models in the Y series. Are they available anywhere? Why don't Lenovo offer longer batteries? Are better batteries in their timeline?

    No, I do not believe 9-cell batteries for the Ideapad Y530 are available. Since that model will likely be phased out soon in favor of the Y550, I doubt there are higher-capacity batteries on the timeline. If you need more battery time, you should consider getting a second 6-cell battery for the times you need more computing time.

    Well that's a shame. I really like this computer and my father does too. I can only hope that the Y550 batteries will be able to be used for this model.

    yea it sucks. I would love a 9 cell for the y430, which is an awesome machine.
