Had to have system board changed on my T400 by onsite tech and thankfully my keyboard missing characters issue has gone for now after that was done. However, my 9 cell battery did not fit flush on all sides into back of laptop and I could not lock it in place. Now, they have sent me a new battery which I just tried and it holds somwhat better and seems to lock more securely but not consistently every time. WWhen installing battery, it does not click itno place but I cannot even remember for sure if there should be a click when battery is insterted. What I see is that the right part of the battery near the DVD does not fit flush with the new battery. There is a gap of maybe a 1/8 inch or less but you can see between the back of the laptop and that side of the battery.

Is this normal with your laptop and what do you think I should do regarding this issue? Does your battery click into place when inserted? Is there a slight gap on either side of the battery when insterted? I hate to be labeled a chronic complainer and I am not interested in making something small bigger than need be but should I dmand that my laptop battery fit completely flush. I know there will be some wobble and there is a little but if this is the normal lot of the T400 then I guess I will accept it. Could it be that the system board was not seated exactly right or even something else? I would hate to have to go through that experience again sort of like watching a serious surgery, you want it to go well but probably not to twatch it. Any input you can give would be greatly appreciated.

The fit varies due to minor variations in the battery casing. My battery has no wobble at all, and fits perfectly, although that definitely isn't the case with all batteries. My dad's T60's 6-cell has a small amount of wobble.

If it does bother you, you should definitely contact Lenovo support for a replacement.

Thanks to all. After speaking again to support, they suggested that I send it in for repair and if they need to replace the bottom part of case, they would or anthing else that needs ot be done to make fit better. They sent me a box and in a couple of weeks, will send it and see how it goes. Thanks again.
