    8gb memory for T61p, some are 1.5v and some are 1.8v which is better?

    also so anybody know where I can buy 8gb from a non california company. It'll save me about $25 in taxes

    Out of the two you posted, I'd opt for the 1.5v modules for two reasons:

    1. Lower voltage in this case will result in less power draw and less heat.

    2. The 1.5v modules you posted also have tighter timings, so you'll get some (albeit negligible) amount of performance increase too.

    I leaned towards the 1.5v way too. But the 1.8v has higher speed capabilities but I don't think the t61p can even reach that speed, am I correct?

    My understanding is the the chipset (Santa Rosa) can not take advantage of the faster PC2 6400 ram. It might work, but will only run at PC2 5300 speeds.

    Your mileage may vary...
