does this mean I'm not getting the 802.11 abg-n card? If so what should I ask when I call lenovo? Should I ask for a specific part number?

Nope. They're supposed to finalize the N-spec in July (I think) and I can't see Lenovo/IBM shipping anything out until after that.

I used to have a Dell 8200 that only had 802.11b onboard and I took a 802.11g mini-pci card from a D-Link desktop card and swapped it with no problems (it had a mini-pc card in a slot on the larger riser card). I haven't checked lately but you used to be able to find mini-pci wifi cards on Ebay. So if you absolutely, positively have to have 802.11n you are probably going to have to wait until the end of the summer. Or make a do-it-yourself upgrade.

The Thinkpad-branded wireless card (Aetheros?) is a/b/g/n while the Intel one isn't. I was under the impression that Intel wasn't going to support Wireless N until Santa Rosa (by which time N should finally be finalized, up to now people are working off various draft specs...such a bad idea imho).

I guess if you really wanted 802.11n you could call and make sure you got the Thinkpad ABGN card. Looking at the service manual I think the part number for the ABGN card might be "42T0825", but I'm not 100% positive on that. The safest thing would likely be to make sure you tell them you want the Thinkpad Wireless A/B/G/N card; since I think it costs more they shouldn't object to you asking for it.
