I have a new T 400. I am working on a small spreadhset in exel. when I save it, it takes forever -- literally a minute. I noticed the 802.11 g wireless light at the bottom of the monitor is flashing while it's saving. I don't know why. I'm only working on the local c drive.

the WAN and blue tooth are off

I tried an experiment and turned off the wireless G from the switch on the front.

suddenly the file saved in half a second.

any ideas about what is going on?

Are you connected to a network when your wireless is on?

yes, a home network; really a workgroup not a domain.

There is a file server I use for music streaming, another desktop and several music devices (sonos) that piggyback on the router. sonos creates it's own network though.

That said, I have not even tried to save any files to the network. I'm only working and saving on the laptop C drive. I didn't mention that the problem didn't happen with word files. I haven't checked powerpoint.

I just tested this again. The problem didn't occur with either word or excel now.

Saving was quick. This is a bit mysterious to me and troubling.
