    Hello all!

I ordered a W520 on Friday, and as I was looking through the forums, I'm seeing that a ton of people are having problems with Speed stepping getting their processors stuck at 800 MHz. Is this persistent in both the 2720 and the 2820, or does it affect the 2720 more?

(Looking through a bunch of different posts, it seems that way.)

    I'd appreciate anyone's input/advice.

    Thanks!

I haven't tested the odd scenario yet on my W520. I did install the 1.26 BIOS because I wanted to see how the fan behavior was compared to 1.22. I like 1.26 better.

The scenario some folks are griping about has to do with suspending on battery and resuming on full power. According to the posts it temporarily locks the CPU speed to 800 MHz. I can be unlocked by removing the battery to get things reset.

Since I never use battery it doesn't affect me. I watched it quite a bit yesterday. Seemed to scaling up and down as needed to me.

Whatever the problem is, it has never affected me.

    Try unplugging the AC cord.

Probably why it doesn't affect me. That virtually doesn't ever happen as the W520 is mostly docked.

Oh crap, that would explain why my speed locked in at 800MHz this morning... I unplugged the AC to change rooms. A little while later I noticed the speed not moving and flash was almost impossible to watch!
