    seagate is known for better reliability, hitachi is known for better performance. Take your pick ;)

    Seagate 7200.3 - Denser disks (160GB Dual Platter --> 320GB 7200.3)
    Hitachi 7K200 - (100GB Dual Platter --> 200GB 7K200)

    So, the Seagate will have better Read/Write rates due to the larger, denser disks. But access times will be similar, and there won't be much difference in Power Consumption and Surface Temps.

    You can go to Tomshardware and have a look at the 2.5" HDD Chart.

    I checked tomshardware and 7k200 has the best performance but in other hand seagate offer 120gb more for the same price (at least in Poland).
    Anyway i heard that new discks from seagate breaks a lot, anyone can confirm this?

    No, that is incorrect. The Seagate is better than the 7K200 in performance, especially in Read/Write rates and Interface performance.

    I don't think Seagate drives break down, if not misused. Seagate does back its product with a 5-Year Warranty, as compared to the 3-Year Warranties from WD and Hitachi.

    I've used seagate HDD in the past and have had good results with them. Within the past 12 months or so, many of my colleagues have used the 7k200 and had nothing but praises for them. I think both have vey similar performance and power consumption is marginally different between the two.

    The best choice is 7200.3 250 GB.... The fastest... It is strange because the 320GB has more densitive area.... but i've seen a comparative by a japanese site... (when i find the link i post it..)
