    Dear all,

I just bought a 7k200 100GB and just want to know the power consumption for the drive, I saw review on Tomshardware.com, it says the 200GB has 1.1 on idle and 3.8 on load, but 200GB has 2 platters and 4 heads, but the 100GB will only have 1 platter and 2 heads, assuming it will have lower power consumption, I've been searching for ages but can't found any info on power consumption of the 100GB.

See page 2 of this datasheet

All 7k200 have roughly the same power consumption regardless of the size.

So there is no power difference, surely, one platter will require less power to run.

Certainly the platter and heads have less inertia to move, but Hitachi decided the difference was negligible to warrant different ratings.
