I see there are two versions if you opt for a 7200 rpm HD - 60GB and 100GB.
Do you guys know anything about them (brand, model).
How do they perform? I would like to get the faster one.

They are most likely the same brand and probably hitachi, but maybe seagate. Either way they perform about the same. In general, a 7200RPM HDD will be faster than a 5400RPM HDD. 60GB vs 100GB well that is storage space. You will be able to store approx. 40% more stuff on the 100GB HDD.

I've read on this forum a few times that, specifically, it's 7200.1 and 5400.3 ... less than 10% difference in data rate. MAybe seek times a bit faster.

Not sure if that was for T60 and T61 or just T60 tho.

The big difference comes from going from under 5400RPM drives up to 5400 or 7200. There is not that big of a difference from what I have seen between 5400 and 7200.

    Thanks for the link.
That's actually the reason I've brought this topic up, cause according to the graphs the smaller the drive, the better it scores in Random Access Time.
Meaning that the 60GB HD should be faster than the 100GB one of the same model and rpm rating.
