Can't find any info and pictures of 7-cell. How longer does it last compare with 6?
The only photo available is for 6 cell which is ugly enough. Is 7 cell even bulkier? Any help appreciated.
Why can't they integrate extended battery better?

7 looks the same as 6. I don't know why people are complaining... it looks fine, at least it's in the same plane as the notebook. Check out HP's batteries, it actually raises up the machine an inch. I certainly don't mind an inch out the back (which I don't look at)

If you really wanted it not to stick out, it would have to be a combination of a 4-cell with an Ultrabay battery from what I've seen.

I understand that Ultrabay battery has 3 cells, so together with standard 4 cells it will be total of 7. May me that's what 7-cell is about?

Well, if you purchase a 7 cell and an ultrabay 3 cell, you will have a total of 10 cell. I would imagine that will last you about 5 or 6 hours with normal usage.

One question, does the 14inch wide and the 15inch wide share the same sized ultrabay battery?

Hmm... I honestly thought it was a 7-cell battery which would stick out. And then you had the option of changing the optical drive with an Ultrabay

Only reason for saying that is they give you the upgrade to a 7-cell for only 30 dollars (USD; US website) which is way too low for something that good ;)

I actually phoned Lenovo Canada recently about their batter listings. I was looking through the Canadian listing for the Lenovo and it seemed like it was still in the process of being developed. The rep I spoke with said that the Ultrabay battery might not even be compatible, and that they would check and what not.
From my personal impression I think that the Ultrabay battery would be the same. But unless someone can confirm that, it's just hearsay.

OK then, I would go for 4-cell plus Ultrabay one, of course if it's compatible - how to verify that? Then I will have some flexibility and nothing will stick out :)

The 7 cell battery is the same exact size as the 6 cell it only weighs a tiny bit more. If you think about it the prices are all relative. I think from 4 cell to 6 cell it's $20 extra and from 6 cell to 7 cell it's like $10 more(at least when I bought it those were the prices). It just doesn't make sense for someone to purchase the 6 cell when it's such a slight increase in price and the same exact size. I really don't even know why they offer the 6 cell. It should just be 4 and 7 cell like the z61t.

^Actually the price isn't proportional. The difference in $$ between the 4 and 6-cells is the same as the difference between the 6 and 7-cells, making the 6-cell a better deal than the 7-cell battery.

As far as I have read the 4 cell is the only battery on the T61 that doesn't stick out!

Well, proportional or not, 7-cell just $15 more and allegedly the same size as 6-cell, so to me it's worth it

Not that I'd dream of tinkering, but someone said these were individual AA sized rechargeable batteries in a pack. (With a charging circuit, of course) Are they the same as the 1.4-1.5V bare batteries that assembled into packs for cordless phones etc?

I know those are essentially the same as retail NiCd and Ni-Mh AAs, so I wonder if the same is true of laptop packs.

Is there any average times for how long 4, 6 and 7 cell batteries lasts on the T61?

just to clear up something. the 4-cell with the optional extended battery does not equal the 7-cell battery. The extended battery gives a ~40% increase to the 4-cell, while the 7-cell has ~76% more battery than the 4 cell.

this is based off of the datasheet of the r61, which has the exact same battery life data as the t61's datasheet except with the battery life of the "4-cell, integrated graphics,"

I tested mine a couple of times. it lasted longest at about 3 hr w/ full brightness and audio. w/ brightness dimmed halfway and no audio, I got about close to 4 hr. All I did was check email every now and then while doing work on excel.

    7 cell, xp, nividia card.

I've heard other figures, so take it with a grain of salt. btw, im getting the 3 cell ultrabay, i'll letcha all know how long that lasts

How long does it take for your 7 cell to charge. I have the 90W power supply and it takes around 5 hours to fully charge. Seems kind of long, I am hoping this gets better over time
