Has anyone here had any luck getting the 660m to boost or overclock? The clocks don't seem to boost to 950mhz even when its not even hot.

Do you use max setting in Lenovo energy manager ? Because it's going turbo to 950 Mhz for sure, checked it myself.

How about if you don't install the Lenovo energy management software? I never bothered to install it after my clean install.

When I start up afterburner, my clock says 835. As soon as I launch a game, it jumps to 950.

Not using the lenovo energy software. Don't see a need to. In fact, it seems like it's worse since you have to run it on the max setting to enable the gpu to run at full power. Without it, just using the windows power control, even at the balanced settings, the gpu kicks in at the full 950 when it's supposed to.

First image is Diablo 3 running windowed and I have clicked outside the game window. The gpu immediately throttles.

Second image is clicked in the game window making it active. The gpu immediately goes to the full 950. These shots are taken on the balanced power setting.

Download nvidia inspector and click unlock max. But for more voltage you need a modded vBIOS

    This notebook seems interesting

304.79, yup clicked, it's just not possible to click on unlock max or unlock min, it's greyed out, can show you screen when i return home. I think +135 MHz is set limit, don't 650M have the same problem and the limit was removed by modded vbios?

Lol, the 650M is a non-MXM part, so it should be very hard to mod the vBIOS to do that. Moreover in an apple laptop :p (mbp retina)

The 660M though has a dedicated BIOS chip that isn't tied to the system BIOS. Modding would be easier than the 650M.

Hmm, that's strange, normally the "unlock max" always works, weird.

    Aw man, that sucks.

Try using MSi afterburner and EVGA precision.

If that doesn't work I have to consult Guru3D forums, which will take a while...

    @_@

EDIT: as a last measure, try the beta drivers too http://www.guru3d.com/news/nvidia-geforce-30479-beta-download-/

Make sure you use the "complete wipe" method instead of juts running the nvidia installer

I am using those Beta Drivers already, installed them just after clean windows install. I tried both EVGA Precision and MSI Afterburner before also.

Aw man, I guess I'll head over to Guru 3D and see what they can do about the RivaTuner software

    EDIT: Try this: http://www.overclock.net/t/1267918/...-disable-boost-fixed-clock-speed-undervolting

    Instead of typing: nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,2

    Type: nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,1

Not worked same as described there, because I couldn't get memory clocl more than stock, but i increased core much higher :
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-3210M Processor,LENOVO Product Name score: P2949 3DMarks - 1200 MHz Core i 1250(2500) MHz Memory.

I also needed to type "forcepstate:0,5" otherwise it didn't work, because it's this "P5" am i right ?

Didn't check that OC on real stress test, so can't say, i only run 3dmark11 for points and check if there are artifacts. Probably the stable OC will be lower than the one I did, but for now there is not real need for me to check this, since i will stick for now to +135/+300, because that's enough for me and on this OC there is no Throttle, checked it with Prime95+Furmark 1h, temp. are decent(~77 on GPU, ~85 on CPU, but i used cooling pad).

    Hello Nahrai,
How did you end up getting it to work? I tried it on my g75vw, but I can't seem to unlock the max.
Could you explain it to me?
    Thanks.

    Hey,
I used an idea from this guide, but a bit diffrent [GUIDE] Nvidia Inspector GTX670/680 - disable boost / fixed clock speed / undervolting

First of course you need Nvidiainspector, then it's best to check which P states you have for me it was P5 :
So P0 it's high end with turbo mode, P5 is the one we want to change, number may differ in your card.
So by using cmd you go to nvidiainspector folder and write this line there :
"nvidiainspector.exe -forcepstate:0,5" - which basically means that you graphic card will always have clocks in P5.
Now you open nvidiainspector and change clocks for P5, at default they are 405 MHz Core and 800 MHz memory, of course to increase them you need to click "Unlock max" first. You can overclock that way core clock without the problem, but with memory clock, if you go for more than stock clock(2500), then it will revert back. This is because memory clock in P5 is linked with Memory clock in P0, to overclock memory you need first to increase memory clock in P0, for example increase it to 2800 MHz, then you will be able to increase memory clocks in P5 above 2500 up to 2800.
After turning off comp the settings will be lost i think(Forcing P5 state), so you will probably need to do the bat file like they did in linked guide.
I hope my chaotic explenation will help, but if there still be problem, then i can try doing some screenshots from each step.

So running the 295.93 drivers, I can adjust the core and memory speeds. however when I check with afterburner, despite saying that it's been overclocked, it's not actually running at those higher clocks.

Is this because the stock Lenovo drivers wont let me overclock?

Hi everyone, what's your stable core/memory ? I was at +115/+200 and Max Payne3 kept crashing throughout the cut scenes. It runs fine on furmark though.

1150MHz on gpu, 2600MHz on memory seems to be rock solid on mine, and while the temp does climb, it does so slowly and never seems to breach 70°C

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,LENOVO Product Name score: P3025 3DMarks

Says 2900MHz on the RAM there, but doesn't seem to make much, if any difference so I wound it back to a more sensible level.

No point pushing it any further for my modest needs.

Hi guys, sorry for bringing back old thread.
I manage to did everything Nahrai did on my 660m Y580. I can change the core clock and memory clock as I like. I managed 1200/2700. The .dat batch file, everything work.

But then I wipe my driver clean and reinstall it again. It is the same version, 334.67 Beta. Everything went well but now my overclock.dat doesnt work. It downclock me to 405/800 instead. My default.bat can go 1000/2500 and I can change the memory clock as I like but not the core clock. Anyone have any idea why the overclock.dat now doesnt work?
