My workee got me a T with regular screen and I noticed the adaptor was 65W versus 90W like my WS model. Is the 65W enough juice to power the WS? Are they interchangeable? Thanks in advance.

I think the 95w demand is linked to both a widescreen, and discrete graphics/combo, which you have. Lenovo has never been very clear about what the absolute minimum power adapter is. The website will let you order a 65W with the wide/discrete combo. It may be that it will charge much slower when you are using it. Any EE's out there?

I think the deciding factor is the discrete graphics card, which bsodder has already mentioned. A discrete graphics card will require more power than an onboard graphics card, therefore, a 90W adapter would be included.

I have never run into problems using a 65w adapter with a thinkpad with dedicated graphics. the only thing that will happen is the battery will charge at a slower rate if the notebook is using a ton of power. Back when I reviewed the 15" T61p, I was using a spare 65w adapter since it was much smaller and lighter.

My T61 14.1" wide screen with a quadro 140 (6 cell I think) came with a 65W adapter. Charging certainly takes forever.

That's strange, they should come with 90w adapters.

I use a 65W at the office and 90w at home. Didn't really notice much of a problem with the 65w but probably not paying attention.

Using 14" with Nvidia graphics- T61P
