    This score seems low to me. I'm a bit worried because I have read a couple of places that some of the Lenovo bloatware can impact processor performance. Isn't this a low score for an i5 460M?

    You should also bear in mind that the WEI is a relatively unreilable indicator of performance potential. And, what precisely do you identify as "Lenovo Bloatware"?

    While I can't speak for everyone, to me Lenovo's Power manager, System Update, Active Protection, Hotkey Utility etc are light and essential. Of course, YMMV.

    Searching in Google shows that an i5 in a Y460 should be around 6.8. The Lenovo stuff should not affect things so much that you're in the 5.4 range. Do you have the latest drivers via Lenovo system update? While the WEI is not important, I think it does show there's something going on with your Y.

    Not necessarily true for WEI, I've found that sometimes it can give pretty random results. IMO test the CPU with a stress test to make sure it's properly cooled and won't be throttled then run a multithreaded calculation such as WPrime to see if the CPU is running at par with similar ones.

    My t61p is a 5.5 and my extreme is a 6.2.

    I don't think you have a problem.

    I put the original Hard Drive back in the machine, made recovery discs than installed the image onto my SSD. I could tell right away that performance was much snappier. I am currently removing various programs.

    All my WEI score went up. No overclocking.

    5.4 ---> 6.9
    5.8 ---> 6.9
    6.4 ---> 6.8
    6.4 ---> 6.8
    7.6 ---> 7.7 (Vertex 2, yeah!)

    This is the first time that this method has produced better results than my usual process of clean install, than picking and choosing my programs.

    On a side note this machine (y460) has the best keyboard and touchpad I have every used.

    Please take WEI with a grain of salt. My old T60p scores 4.3. My X201 scores 4.2. In actuality, the X201 is a night and day improvement in performance.

    If you don't mind could you post some CrystalDisk numbers for your Vertex2?

    Thanks!

    I don't use CDM. CDM is not good for SSDs with Sand Force controllers. Here are my ATTO numbers. Keep in mine I have been installing and uninstalling various programs and haven't had idle time to let it do its GC/trim thing.

    What SSD are you using? Oh, I see now.

    Your graphs are better than mine. I have a Crucial.
