55Y3396 adds HDDR to a system that already has a 4YR warranty.   it's not a compatible upgrade to any other warranty plan (ie: it will not turn a 4YR depot warranty into a 4YR on-site with HDDR or add 4YR HDDR to a system with a 3YR warranty).

i highly recommend calling the sales department for help with warranty configs if you aren't sure what to get.   or, you can try the online warranty upgrade tool listed on this page: Lenovo Support - Warranty upgrades and maintenance service

You want 45K5974. Confirm this with Lenovo sales since the T420s isn't posted in the Lenovo warranty list yet. Should be the same though since the T410, T410s and T420 all use that for that warranty extension.

That's for 4yr Depot + Battery. Based on the price I'd say that's with a base warranty of 3yrs. Unless you already had 3yr depot on your machine, that wouldn't apply to you. Look through the link I posted above, it makes things clear.

ADP has to be purchased within a certain time frame.   because purchase dates don't always match up with build dates, ADP has to be purchased as part of a CTO system or afterward through a sales rep.   there are part numbers for ADP services but nothing useful to customers.
