Amazon.com: W701 I7-720QM 1.6G 2GB 320GB DVDRW 17-WXGA BT BFP W7P: Electronics
FYI. Really good deal for anyone seeking a 17" laptop/workstation.

That seems like a pretty insanely great deal to me -- )I've been looking for a workhorse to speed up some home tasks like scanning, photo organizing, video editing.) They're out of stock; I put in an order. I can always cancel; looking for other opinions on this. This is several hundred under a lower end 15" one. What gives?

Resolution is at 1400x900 so make sure one is happy with that before ordering. That said, it is a rather amazing price!

That's a steal-deal. Even with the mediocre screen (which can be easily upgraded).

I was thinking of trying to get one of these for my family in Europe. It's mostly my sister and my dad who would be using it. My dad wears glasses and doesn't have that good vision any more so he told me to get some laptop with big screen and I'm thinking this resolution would actually work great for him. (The text would be a bit bigger than on e.g. 1920x1200 RGB LED screen). The computer would also be mostly moved only around the house. I hooked my family to laptops too now, so everyone wants one.
The only reason I didn't order is that it might very well be that the laptop doesn't come before Dec 27th. And the next time I'll be going home is summer, so I'm thinking there will be better deals after 6 months. For me, I think Thinkpad Wxx series is what I might get to replace m17x in a 3-5 years. Or whenever it'll stop being useful. -
Wow, THAT'S A LOW PRICE!
-
Just looked up which model that is, it doesn't have a digitizer. False advertising! I think I'll sue and get a free one
-
Well, Amazon just cancelled my order "Due to a lack of availability from our suppliers." Too good to be true. This strikes me as false advertising. Shouldn't they be aware of their stock prior to selling something?
-
Mine was just canceled as well. I'm disappointed but not too surprised since I suspect the W701 is getting an upgrade and production on these stopped a while ago. There's probably little to none in the distribution pipeline.
-
Sounds more like pricing mistake. I reckon claiming that "stock is not available" was safest way to wiggle from it.
W701 are still available, however they almost universally factory-direct ordered, so hardly sitting in warehouses anywhere.
49% off W701 at Amazon.com ($1050 off!)
