I have T61 w/2.2ghz, 3GB mem, turbo mem, HD 7200
Intel X3100.
with wifi off or on I get less then 90 min of usage !
when Im trying to "stretch" I get only 2 more minutes.
Is that OK !?
btw, when I slide in my ultrabay 3-cell batt I get one more hour.

how old is the battery? and if you want, you can probably get it "refilled" as in the cells replaced, at www.batteryrefill.com i think thats the website, if not use google. by replacing the cells the battery will last 10% longer than if it were brand new. hope this helps.
edit: the site claims "Guaranteed 20-40% longer running time compared to a new manufacturer's battery" ...i still say 10%, but 10% longer than new is still pretty darned good! -
Its 2 days old.
-
That shouldn't be right. A T61 with a nvs 140M clocks in at 150 minutes with a 4 cell. (See notebookcheck.com review).
-
That can't be right either... unless it was just idle with everything off. -
refil a sealed lith ion bat? no thanks.

Still, 90 minutes is not right, especially with the x3100. -
According to that article, 2.5hours idle (wifi-off, min brightness) and 45mins maximum performance/brightness. Only 1hr and 5mins for the DVD test. So depending on the screen brightness and whether wifi is on or off, <90mins with the X3100 is understandable on the 4cel. Especially when you take into consideration that Numnum's T61 has the faster 2.2GHz CPU and 7200rpm drive (which probably draw more power.) -
what're your profile settings? Full CPU, full LCD, that wouldn't surprise me.
-
no fulle CPU. but 85-100% LCD.
sometimes wifi off.
but lots of HDD [R/W]. -
It doesn't sound like you've given this battery enough charge/discharge cycles to get to optimum condition.
-
Which mean ? ...
My lappy is on AC from 9 to 5.
then It run on batt....90 min. -
He means, you should fully discharge the battery once and then recharge it again. For calibration etc. Also, to optimize battery life, you should store it less than 100% charged, and only recharge it when it drops below a lower threshold. You can change the recharging setting by clicking on the green battery power manager
Nevertheless, 90 minutes with integrated graphics is too low for a new battery. Even if santa rosa and vista use more power than before, it shouldn't be as bad as you're seeing. -
will do it and come back w/the results.
Thank you all. -
speaking of battery problems
my 6 cell takes 6 hours to recharge.
is this normal? -
My new T61 with T7300 & NVS140 and 6 cell battery only lasts about 2.5 hours. not sure that's real good either.
-
-
I also find that it takes around 6 hours to charge the 7 cell. In particular the last 20% charges very slowly. Do you notice if the charge is faster if the laptop is off or suspended vs being on?
-
about 50% screen wireless was on. Mostly web surfing and email.
4-cell batt. less then 90 minutes ?
