    Hi,

What is best, the 4, 6 or 7 cell ? The price is (for students) about 23 $ or 50 $ to go for respectively the 6 or 7 cell.

I am just scared that the 6 or 7 will end up being too heavy after a bit, for what it seems not much gain ?

    I am ordering a 2.2 C2D, nvidia, 120Gb @ 5400 rpm, 3 gb ram.

Am looking to get at least 2-3 hours out of the 4 cell. Am i dreaming?

    Any idea, input ?

When you purchase 4 cell 2hrs should be OK but for 3hrs you need 6 or 7 cell. The choice really is 4 or 7, you buy 7 cell if you need it running longer, you get 4 cell if battry life is not critical.

Lower your C2D down to the T7500 and go for the 7-cell. Also lower your 3GB down to the 1DIMM 1GB and purchase a 2GB stick by using the RAM Deals section here on NBR. You should save yourself a couple hundred by doing these things.

The 7-cell is not heavy at all.

    Thanks.

My college has power outlets everywhere, and true, a 4 cell is ok. That is just for when I am taking a plane (to work/watch something), be in an airport or even at starbucks (some power outlet are always taken!)

Here is something confusing. I looked for the product number of the 6 and 7 cell (on IBM for the 14"), and took a quick look on ebay:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230215685592&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=013

But the Mah (the amperage ?) seems way higher than the one from the site (5200 on Ibm for the 7 cell ?)

Any idea ? This battery seems ok (term of price), if I decide later on to grab one.

    done :)

done :) - I was going to buy the 2 gb stick on a side!

I am just worried about the weight of the 7 cell ...I carry books, note books, a Fujitsu slate (with 2 batteries!) and my laptop (plus all of the small extras ...)

    I have a T61 (same dim. as R61) w/ 7-cell and it's 27cm deep and 34cm wide.

The PocketTop dimensions are, in inches:

    External*: 2.8 length x 16.5 width x 13.9 depth
    Internal*: 2.3 length x 16.5 width x 11.75 depth

    It'll fit fine.

The weight of the 7-cell battery is about 0.88 lbs.

I'd say the whole R61 laptop + battery is about ~5.5lbs.

If you're buying this battery with your laptop, I would suggest a 6-cell, mainly because I don't see the extra $27 you have to pay for that extra cell to be worth it.

Since you're going to stay plugged in most of the time, it should do you fine.
