Hi, today i noticed couple of stuck pixels (see picture)

any chance to be replaced ?
also i have another problem. when brightness is not on full, right side is darker.. like shadow.. its like it warms up and after that seams to be ok.
    is this ok?

i will for sure call Lenovo.. but i'm not sure they will understand the problem..
and i need that laptop daily..

i tried with some apps to remove them.. but no luck..

    Thank you in advance.

If you have a warranty then you will need to send it in or if you have onsite warranty a technician will come to your house.

I believe their policy is 5 stuck/dead pixels, or 10 if there is a combination of the two, merits replacement.

hmm, you sure it´s dead pixels ?

when i look at the outline of the grey spot i looks more like a fluid stain. i might be wrong, but the picture you are providing looks like there is just dirt on the front or the backside of the glas panel.

    Thanks for quick replies.

That URL, with nr of faulty pixels is nice, thank you, but it does not provide information if pixels are together or not.. i hope this matters :)

I found closest "Warranty Service Provider", so will try luck there.

No, I'm sure its not dirt. How it can be backside of the glass panel?

One more question, suppose they will replace, will take it for replacement. How long they can keep my lap? Shouldn't they provide some temporary replacement? i mean i need my t61 for work... thats why.

    Hi.

It looks like an imperfection in the panel, it does not look like faulty pixels.

    regards

    John.

Lenovo will most likely not replace a screen for 4 stuck pixels. They also most likely will not replace a screen for poor viewing angles (the right side appears more dim than the right). They consider those things to be "within spec", regardless of how unappealing it might look, and regardless of how shafted you feel as a consumer.

If by chance they did replace your screen, you would have to send it in, assuming that you didn't purchase the on-site warranty. I'm not sure a "warranty service provider" is covered since the standard warranty clearly states "return to depot". I could be wrong, hopefully for your sake I am! They don't supply any sort of substitute machine for you to use while yours is away for service. You could have your computer back in 3 days or 3 weeks, the reports always seem to vary.

    Thank you.

What does mean "imperfection in the panel" ? it wasn't so from beginning. No bad pixels at all. Only today i noticed this issue.

At least it is not in center and will not be any new..

    thanks again.

    Hi.

You can see the pixel colour though it, It`s more like a stain.

I have had a number of dead and hot pixels, also faulty sub-pixels, but that picture is very strange!

    regards

    John.

EDIT : has the panel been hit or something!, I am not saying by you!

Well, as far i know it was not hit, and i am almost sure it wasn't.
Because when i turn off display, there isn't any mark of being touched on black display.

Could some how dust enter under glass? (don't laugh, i don't know about lcd much)

    Thanks.

well, it certainly is not dust. as i said it looks like a stain. whether it´s on the inside or the outside you can see best. if it´s a fluid stain it could have been there since day one of production, when the lcd was built. the second option is some fluid got inside, but in that case you would see more than just a stainspot.

so if it definatly is not on the outside, i cant imagine a way how you could produce such a stain without disassembling the lcd.
even if you don´t remember it might have been there all the time.

Just give them a call, and tell them about it, and see how they react. Clearly, it's affecting your work and use of the laptop *hint hint*

Hi there. Just as an update.

Lenovo replaced my display. This "new" one looks better for sure.
Better viewing angles, I am not used yet with colors, looking to calibrate them, but they reset every time i reboot. Anyway this is not the point.

It seems it is LP154W02-TL06, but i am confused, because taking battery out i saw also 42x4641. And finally, i signed a paper that has EW02AV64(or U) - 054218 for display, and i did not find anything in internet about this :)

I don't know if I was lucky and they sent a new dispaly or just replaced a refurbished one, it does not look new..anyway will see how it goes.

When did you purchase the system? There's a new pixel policy for systems purchased starting January 1, 2008.

Ed Shumpert, Thinkcentre/Desktops Launch Readiness Program Manager US Service & Support, blogged about it and other changes on LenovoBlogs in the article Welcome Changes.

The new pixel policy is at Display (LCD) replacement for defective pixels - ThinkPad

I bought it in Oct 2007. It's nice to hear that they changed policy.
