I've got a couple of other power bricks and am trying to determine which tips to use with them. I've got an iGo, a Targus and two kensingtons (one AC, one DC). All are at least 90w. What other Thinkpad models use the same power connector plug as the T420? Not all vendor websites list the T4xx models.

Anything T60/X60/R60 and after. Anything SL and L should also work.

Anything after T43, R52, X41. Basically all Lenovo Thinkpad use these power connector (apart from the W7xx and W510/W520, W510 use the same connector type but needs a 135 Watt version, i think T520 with Quad Core also uses 135 watt adapter).

And I've read a 65w won't recharge the battery in a T420 as quickly as would the 90w or 135w. I carry a 90w and have a 135w into the docks at home and office. My 3rd party ones are all 90w or higher, so I should be covered.

The upside to using 3rd party ones is I can use the same brick to recharge my wife's Sony VAIO, along with a bunch of other gadgets. The iGo bricks have an in-line connector that lets you tee off added tips for charging phones, ipods, etc. When traveling on vacation it's nice to save a few pounds and some cabling to go with a single brick instead of one each and multiples for devices.

So I asked Kensington which tip would work on a 120w DC adapter I've got. They said it's tip N29 and they'd send me one for FREE.

    How's that for service?

Pretty damn good, but i only use their laptop bags (well i get them free with the laptops), and so i have not have had too much contact with Kensington customer service.
