Anybody else notice that the T540p costs more than the W540 if you add the 3K display to both, the same CPU 4800MQ and add the the NVS to T540p?
You get NVS instead of the Quadro and get 4GB instead of the 8GB on the W540. Everything else the same and the T costs more. I guess Lenovo didn't make the T540p with the intent of people upgrading it. I see no reason why you would pay more for a much lesser graphics card and less default RAM.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
On a normal consumer end, that may make more sense (aka just buying "1" laptop) but when a large government agency or corporation buys laptops, they have MUCH different price quotes. More than likely a W540 on the corporate cost per machine is way higher than the T540p and thus some companies would go with the T540p over W540.

In many countries a T540p with WQHD+ & Quad Core CPU is cheaper than the W540. Base price of each machine model is heavily discounted in USA, but the options for different parts upgrade is where Lenovo makes the money.
So the more you upgrade on a basic spec, it means the more price insensitive you are, which is why many companies tend to charge you through the roof when you try to get top specs, as you just want the best.ajkula66 likes this.
