I can't seem to find any benchmarks for the 3650 in the T500 or the v5700 in the W500. How much worse is the 3470 compared to the 3650/v5700 when it comes to gaming performance?

Would be great if anyone could provide a link to benchmarks.

    thanks.

the t400 review on this site has some benchmarks that compare both cards in 3dmarks06

    If I remember right 3dmark06:

    3470: about 2500
    3650: about 4300
    v5700: about 4700

The V5700 (in w500) I read somewhere else, not quite sure if I remember it right. The first 2 are in Kevin's review.

For gaming, go with the highest option possible, any little bits count. :D

Darn, i was leaning toward the T400 but seeing that it's gfx card isn't too great for gaming, I might have to reconsider. Is the 3470 comparable to the Qudro NVS 140M in the T61 for gaming?

The score listed above for the T400 is decent.
When the scores for the NVS 140M first hit the reviews they were at about 2,000 for 3dMArk06.

So it looks like it is better than the NVS 140m. Also consider that the ATI GPU's are more power efficient which is a good thing for a small portable notebook like the T400.

Don't trust 3dMark. 3dMark inflate many factors like cpu power. The T400 has a better cpu, so it's logical that it gets a better performance.

However, in real life, except for high-end graphic card(ati 48xx, nividia 88xx), a increase of cpu power will give little result in game, since the CPU will work faster than the GPU.

The 3470 should be a little bit faster than a NVS140 with a no-pro driver, it will play games like Half-Life 2 or Doom3 okay, but not recent games like CoD4 or even Crysis.

You can, but you will have to go mid/low quality and lower res than native(forget about HDR and AA ofc). A not satisfying gaming experience imo, but it might be enough for you.
