    500 GB performance is all but equal

    They are certainly not the same.

    The power envelope for the Hitachi is superior to the Seagate.

    However the Seagate has a larger cache (16 MB versus 8 MB). It's also lighter by about a tenth of a pound, if weight if important to you. In addition the Seagate also has better latency, if you believe the advertised specs.

    But most importantly, the Seagate comes with a five-year warranty while the Hitachi comes with a three-year guarantee.

    I would say the clear winner is the Seagate.

    If you need disk storage take 500GB.
    If you prefer to have a little more speed take the 7200rpm.

    (Imo take the 320GB and buy an external HDD to stock your data)

    Thanks guys for being helpful. Always, It's good if you can listen to what some other ppl say, perhaps they see it from different point of view, anyway, this what you said helped me.
    I'll go with the Seagate, Seawolf summarized the pros nicely :).

    Its good time for new hdd for me, i expect new linux CentOS distro to come out some like in 10 days or so :).
