i've seen on ebay some T61P's with such disks, is it faster than the 200GB 7200RPM ?
does the 3GB/s means its SATA-300?

I can't imagine 320 5200rpm will be faster than 200gb 7200rpm, but if a single disk 500gb 5400rpm (e.g. Samsung's new 500gb) - maybe, due to higher density.
Yes, 3Gbit/s (not GByte) means SATA-II, but for the next two years it's actually better of to get SATA-I (1.5Gbit/s), reason: the fastest desktop hard drive maybe able to reach just over 1Gbit/s, and laptop hard drive are much slower, as well as SATA-II consume more power than SATA-I, so SATA-I has more advantage than SATA-II -
How do you know it consumes more power? I don't think that is correct. If you can get SATA-II for what you want, then get it.
I believe this 320GB HDD might be on par with a 200GB 7200RPM HDD, but...not sure. -
A T61 has does not have a SATA2, but only a SATA1 interface. So you won't gain any performance benefits if you buy a SATA2 drive.
