as the title says, my 3000 V100 was at a full charge and plugged in and just shuts off with zero warning. just an immediate black screen/power off. i unplug it and turn it on just the battery and i get as far as putting in my password and having about 3 of the lower right icons load up before it happens again. i'm on my third try now and about 5 minutes in. so far so good. does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Could it be that it's overheating? Can you hear/feel the fan running? Have you ever cleaned the heatsink/fan?

it does get very hot but i read in a review a long time back that that's normal. i did buy it used and haven't ever cleaned it outside of surface stuff/the screen. also this has never happened while on my laptop cooler but only while on my bed. any instructions on giving it a proper cleaning or anything else i can do?

The proper way to do it will be to open up the laptop and get to the fan/heatsink area. Preventing the fan from turning as you blow it clean with a compressed air canister. If you are uncomfortable opening up the laptop then I guess you could use the compressed air canister and blow through the cooling vents to get as much of the dirt/dust out. It's best to blow in the "intake" vent hopping that most of the stuff will come out the "exhaust" vent as opposed to going onto your laptop.
    Good luck,
    Steve
