Hello!
Just today my Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop stopped working. The problem is this: when I boot it up nothing at all gets displayed on it's monitor. Absolutely nothing. CD-ROM opens and closes, Caps Lock key doesn't lit up if I press it. That's as far as it goes. Could it be the monitor itself? Maybe the graphics card? Motherboard? Anyone has any experience with a problem like that?
What I did before this "blackout" happened is I updated my Avast anti-virus in Windows and before that I had some problems with USB HUB (only one USB was working), but I doubt that this is the cause of the display showing nothing at all at the startup.
Please help!

Any idea, anyone, please?

Remove all the RAM and turn the machine on. Does it beep? -
Thank you for the idea, I will try that when I get to the laptop (saturday) and report here when I'm back (sunday).

I removed all the RAM and there was no beeping when I booted it up. So it seems it's the motherboard - can it be repaired? I mean, should I take the laptop to the service or get a new one? Thanx!

Just bury it with honours and move on.

If you just bought it, try sending it back because it should still be under warranty.

No, it's an old laptop, I bought it 6 years ago. So then there is no point in looking into the motherboard and trying to repair it huh? I guess I will have to buy a new one... It was a good laptop. Thank you for help.

A friend suggested a CMOS reset. Is it possible that it would help? How do I do that on 3000 N200, is there a switch or something?
If this doesn't work I'd like to save the data from the HDD to another laptop. I will get a HDD to USB adapter to do it and attach the old HDD to the new laptop to save the data. -
I did a CMOS reset, it didn't help. I formatted the HDD and sold the whole thing for 100 €.
Jobine likes this. -

No, I already bought it. It's a cheap Asus (X55A).
