Last Christmas, I was given this laptop. It was my first laptop, and my first Lenovo product. After awhile though, I got tired of dealing with Vista, and so a friend of mine (who received a Lenovo Thinkpad) showed me this link: Windows Clean XP Install Guide
Looking at it though, I started to get worried because the guide focuses on Thinkpads. Because I have no experience with Lenovo products or laptops, and only some mild experience with computers in general, I'm afraid I'm going to destroy my laptop.
I've already installed XP Pro and Service Pack 2 on my laptop, but the problems I have are:
-Lenovo Buttons are disabled. I downloaded all the drivers off the Lenovo page, but I don't know for sure which are the ones I require.
-No internet. I'm not sure if its because of the wireless card lacking drivers (though under the Device Manager, it does state that the device is working properly and drivers are installed).
-Computer doesn't enter sleep mode when I close it. Tried to see if that was just a Windows setting, but I couldn't find anything. Doubt it's strictly a Lenovo thing, but it is something I'd like to fix.
If anyone has the time and willingness to help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. -LtMac

Sorry I do not know how to help you out.
However, I also did an XP clean install on a friends N100 and I haven't been able to get wireless or sound (!) working.
I have tried all the drivers on the lenovo website but none of them seem to get the audio going. Did you have an issue with this? If you have any tips to help me out please let me know. -
Did either of you install the Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio driver before the audio?
What happens when you attempt to install audio? -
I just installed the UAA and then the audio driver. I now have the audio icon in the system tray but I still get no sound. It is not on mute or anything and the playback thing says I should have sounds however nothing is playing.

Are there any unknown devices in Device Manager?
-
Yes there are several.
Three base system devices, a newtork controller, an SM Bus Controller, and two Video Controllers (one is VGA Compatible). -
Just to check, is this the page you downloaded the drivers from?
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-63572 -
Yes that's the one.
-
Did you save the SWTools folder? On occasion XP and Vista drivers are compatible. For example, I am currently using the power managment XP driver in Vista Business. The Vista driver I downloaded from Lenovo did not work, but he XP one did.
-
I didn't even check the audio issue. I did have that problem as well, but it seems I fixed it using those UAA drivers. I also managed to get an internet connection on my computer, so I'm pretty ecstatic.
However, my Lenovo button still doesn't work and I do have several non-functioning devices...

When you installed XP, you killed the Lenovo button. Take comfort in the fact it went quickly and didn't suffer.
Did you save the SWTools folder? -
What is SWTools and where do I get it?
-
The SWTools folder is located on the C:\ drive of your machine. It contains all the applications and drivers installed on your machine. Since you've already formated and you're asking about it, I'll have to assume you didn't save a copy.
-
Actually, I think I did. I'll check all my discs now.
Is there any particular file I'm looking for? Or should I just copy/paste the entire folder? -
What I like to do is copy a copy of the folder onto a disc and in Device Manager, let it search the disc for the driver.
-
The SWTools Disc succesfully installed two drivers:
Ricoh MMC Host Controller
Ricoh Memory Stick Controller
These two devices listed could not be found on the SWTools Disc.
SM Bus Controller
USB20 Camera
Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family was identified (twice apparently), however the status on both of them says:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39)
The computer says that it's an outdated version of the one I have (which I assume means I have already installed the driver), but would re-installing this driver fix my problem? Or would the process be nothing more than a long loop back?
