my brother bought a 3000 C200 the other day. The first day out of the box, he got a BSOD referring to afd.sys

That hasnt happened since, but he has had keyboard freeze ups and even windows freezing at the splash screen.

I have read threads about issues with the realtek driver.

I dont like the Lenovo install, too much rubbish there. We want to do a clean XP reinstall, but I realise the Help button wont work anymore. Oh well, small price to pay I guess.

Is there anything I need to consider when doing a clean reinstall? Any drivers I need in particular that I cant get anywhere else or download off the net?

Also, how do we get the fingerprint reader to work? There were no software CD's and I dont see any fingerprint configuaration utlilty or software to get this to work. I did find something that referenced the fingerprint thing, but it was greyed out.

If i reinstall with a fresh XP and not the Lenovo install, how can I get the fingerprint reader to work, and where can i get software for the rest of the features - ie card reader etc. The lenovo site doesnt seem to have all drivers on it.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Before you do a reinstall, make sure your hardware is in order, otherwise you'll only waste your time. Lenovo has all drivers on its web site, in the "Support & downloads" section ( http://www.lenovo.com/us/en/).
