Is the 3 year warranty really worth the money. I dont want to spend more money on something that might/might not be used.

Alright sounds good. What is the difference b/w the protection services and the regular warranty?

protection services will cover you even if you're the one at fault, (put your laptop in the microwave), while the regular warranty will only cover things that should not go wrong... (mouse stops working)

And I don't know if you qualify or not, but if you use the education discount, the 3 year warranty is included at a discounted price along with a discount on top of the laptop. But i think the labor day sale is better.

Lenovo's 3 yr warranty, currently priced between $100 - $120 is quite reasonable, imo.

Did you ever notice the price of the Dell warranties?

    Yikes!

Of course, there, the odds are good, you're gonna need it someday, which is why, I guess, the warranty is priced accordingly.

I also hear that if you do chose the regular 1 year depot warrenty you will be able to upgrade to a better warrenty at any time, even up to 11months and 29 days.

there was actually a glitch on Lenovo's site on the EP site where you could select the 8891 model and a 1 year warranty thus saving 120+ dollars. When you actually placed your order though the warranty would be the normal 3 year next day warranty. So you could basically get the 3 year warranty for free.

I don't know if you were joking or not, but if you put your laptop in the microwave the TPP won't cover it.

It really would not cover it. Look in the terms. It will cover stuff like spilling something on the keyboard, electrical surges, accidental falls, and maybe a few more things. Melting isn't included.

Just make sure that Lenovo actually gives you the warranty. I checked my warranty online and it only had the basic one year on it. I had to contact websales twice to finally get it corrected.
