My dream: a big bright color-true matte screen. Maybe giving up some on the 'big', is the t400 wxga+ is my dream come true?

Are all these new led backlight screens (hp's illumi-light, dell's new e-series, maybe others?) the samesame and you'd pick your machine based on other criteria, or is there a difference in the 'big bright color-true matte screen' from the different vendors? THANK YOU.

well the Hi-Color screen on my FW gets 100% color saturation and an average of 347 nits.

Looking at the old xps led screens, they don't look as bright to me and some are just awful. maybe the new ones will be better.

Some of the best LED screen, if not the best are the ones on the Vaio TZ and Z series. Z is supposed to surpass the TZ as video reviews indicated.

It is so hard to choose a notebook nowadays. The Sony FW series notebook has the better screen. The Lenovo T500 has the better graphics card. What is the best choice?

Don't mistake brightness with image quality. LEDs generally are brighter and more evenly lit with better battery life, but it does not enhance image quality. The FlexView on the T60 will offer a superior image and will be more color consistent along with better viewing angles.

Thanks so much to all who replied.

I looked at the Sony's - please correct me since not being familiar with their nomenclature I could have got it wrong. Speaking of the tz, z, and fw, are those screens matte? I wasn't sure. The tz and z are plenty big bucks but perfection is dear so maybe...the fw, if it only comes in the 16.4 is unfortunately too big.

As for the FlexView t60, I couldn't find any way to buy that thing.

Does anyone know are all these new led backlight screens on the t400-500, hp's illumi-light, dell's new e-series the same and you'd pick your machine based on other criteria, or is there a difference in the new led backlight screens from the different vendors?

    Thank you!

T500 has DDR3 RAM, smaller screen, better battery life + switchable graphics

The FlexView screen is no longer being sold by Lenovo. You would have to get it used somewhere.

The best places to look are eBay and the Marketplace forum on ThinkPad.com. They tend to be a bit more expensive on ThinkPads, but you'll get a more accurate description of the machine and a lot of sellers have been there a long time with good reputations.
