    Hey

I am interested in buying a 24" monitor for my laptop.

Before i do that i figured i ask if it is even possible to connect to my laptop. I see here on my laptop that i have what i recognize as a monitor outlet.

But there might be other issues? Anything to do with the graphics card (have geforce 7300 go)?

I am really ignorant when it comes to computers, so please - easy on the language (-:

    Thanks !

We need the resolution of the monitor but it should be fine with the VGA output on the laptop.

Of the external monitor, not your laptop. If your external display has VGA just try it. It should work fine.

A 24 inch monitor better not be 1280x800. You'd be hard pressed to find a 24 inch monitor below 1920x1080.

An external 24" LCD will have a resolution of either 1080P or 1920x1200.

Anyway, OP if you have the laptop that is in your sig you cannot connect to a 24" External by HDMI.

You have to use the VGA connection that is on your laptop. Now because VGA is an analog connection instead of digital(HDMI), it won't look as good.

So i guess i just have to go and check it out. That means taking my laptop to a store and plugin it into the monitor i want to buy (it is 1080P by the way).

Assuming the monitor has a VGA input (which most should), then yes you can use it. You just won't be able to use HDMI.
