I've bought a brand-new ThinkPad X220i for a few days. When I turned on the machine, thinkpad logo displaying on the screen,it gave the message "2102: detection error on HDD1 (ultrabay HDD). Press ESC to ignore the error." After pressing ESC,I can use the computer normally.
I used diagnostic programs to identify hardware problems。The results showed that the hard disk drive was normal. So I contacted Lenovo for help ,the technical engineer told me that the mainbord had problems and they would replace a new one. I don't know whether this is quality or design flaws.
Anyone met the same situation?
Any help?

do you have a ultrabase installed with a ultrabay hdd?
Check your boot order in the bios. -

I haven't installed any else hard wares or soft wares in the machine.
The bios settings is default. -

Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad X220 and X220i (0a60739_01)
2102
Initialization error on HDD1 (Ultrabay hard disk drive)
FRU or action, in sequence
1. Reseat the hard disk drive.
2. Ultrabay hard disk drive.
3. System board.
Lenovo provides a free replacement system board.
Notice that abnormal shutoff might damage the system board. -
I had the same problem when received my X220i as well. It required a replacement of the system board (which was free). Eventually I became dissatisfied with the X220, sold it and got a T410s instead.
