    Hi guys!

Just want to know how many of you are actually using something else besides the PC8500?

Will 1333/1600/1866/2133 work in our notebooks? I don't need anything faster for the notebook; it's just that 1333 and 1600 is available for purchase in the forum right now.

The X200t and X200 only support up to PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) speeds, so installing RAM with higher clocks will give you no performance advantage at all.

The X201t and X201 do support 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM, I believe, but note that Lenovo's stock RAM is still 1066 MHz (so if you do want the tiny unnoticeable performance boost of 1333 MHz RAM, you'll have to replace both sticks).

    Hi MidnightSun!

I think you missed my point just a bit. I don’t want faster memory in hopes it will bring better performance. For what the 200t was meant to do, it does it very well and then some. I just want to know if it would be ok to use the faster memory, since I could get it here in our forum cheaper than I could the PC8500 on eBay.

They should run fine as the faster RAM modules will just use the lowest clock speeds supported by the system. So for example if you put a PC3-10600 module in a system that supports PC3-8500 speed, it will just use the PC3-8500 speeds instead.

Oh, sorry - yes, as long as it is a DDR3 SODIMM, it will work inside the X200 and X200t. As Hearst555 said, the RAM will run at the lowest speed of the two sticks.

That is nice to hear guys, thanks! :)

I know maybe I should make a new thread, o boy…but I’m looking into making this a portable TV, and would like to have a nice express card TV tuner with the ability to connect coaxial cable. The x200t is just the right size to use as a TV when doing stuff on the other computer(s). It must be windows 7 compatible, thanks!

Sometimes a faster ram modules may chuck an error, depending on the make of the ram modules.
