    200GB Disk Drive w/Disk Encryption

    How does this work?
    Is there software I need to install?
    Was it a waste of $?
    Maybe I should of gotten the 80g drive and upgraded to 200g from Newegg.

    Waste of money. You can get encyrption from Vista Ultimate already, or from a number of 3rd party programs (some of which are free).

    Yes, but that's different. The 200GB FDE provides low-level encryption (even before the OS boots). You need to enter the p/w before even loading the OS. If you try to reset the p/w, it'll delelte all the files on the HDD.

    If you go for OS based (only) then it'll affect both, performance & security (compared to above). Ideal would be to have both, at the HDD level & at the OS level if you can afford a very fast PC. Defense in-Depth.
