So you won't be playing games or doing any memory intensive tasks?

If your into stocks and need 2 good sized monitors I would get the advanced dock and discrete video. That way you can put a low profile video card in that dock.

If your going to use Vista 64 then get 4 gigs though it would be cheaper getting it aftermarket.

vista 64 can address more ram...32bit will be maxed out with 3GB.

Ram is so cheap these days, you can easily get 4GB for <$200 (at a high price)

For a guy who trades stocks and writes software, you sure do type differently than most people here.

search online for a Vista anytime upgrade dvd. You should be able to get it free or for like 5 bucks. Vista 32bit and 64 bit typically come together if you buy retail, otherwise you need to either 1) configure your system with 64 bit or get an anytime upgrade dvd.

My desktop is a 2 gb dual core extreme running vista Ultimate in 2 gb. Often I have as many as four copies of visual studio at the same time along with SQL server and often photoshop. I run a performance monitor constantly and I've never seen it max out of physical memory.

    Don't double post please.

Yea I believe that will run it fine but I'm not totally sure, maybe 99% sure. I don't mess with external monitors.

Someone will come by and comfirm this, be patient.
