I want to apologize if someone already posted something similar.
I have a T42 / 2379; I recently installed Vista and would like to upgrade the memory to improve the performance. According to IBM this laptop will take 2 GB of RAM, however I only have one memory slot. So, Im looking to get a 2 GB module, but trying to find a 2 GB module for this laptop has been difficult.
My first question would be does anyone know where I could get a 2 GB module for a T42 (2379)
My second question: has anyone installed Vista on a T42 and what are the cons?
Thank you

Not sure why you think you have only 1 memory slot. A T42 2379 has 2 SODIMM Slots Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.

Thank you for the reply - I will check again but I'm certain when I pulled out the memory bay I only seen I slot, which I found rather odd.

IIRC, the T4x series has one memory slot under the access door on the bottom and another under the keyboard. It's easy to overlook the one under the keyboard.
Here is the hardware maintenance manual for reference. -
Yeah, I have a T42 2378 running XP Pro and I've got 2GB (2 x 1GB) installed, which is the most it can hold. There are two RAM slots: one under the keyboard, and the other is accessible from the bottom.
That's the max it can have. -
Thank you very much msb0b
