WD makes a 7mm 1TB drive that fits the the X2x0 notebooks. I have this drive in my X220 and it works quite well. The X230 and X240 can accommodate the drive too. I'd be more inclined toward the X230 for the mSATA SSD option, full voltage CPU and better trackpoint setup. The X240 has a larger touch pad if you roll that way and a FHD LCD, though I believe it is touch, which means glare.

The T440s has a standard 9mm drive bay as far as I know, so you could fit a nice, speedy 7K1000 drive in there

Is there a reason you specified 3-4lb? Are you particularly looking for a laptop that is in the big/heavy side?

If you get the X220/X230 and use the four-cell battery, it's likely under three pounds depending on the particulars.
