I've been a Dell guy for a long time, but am very interested in getting my first Lenovo.

I know the in & outs of dell pricing and models but I am unsure how to get the best deals on Lenovo.

Looking for a solid, top of the line machine with a seperater graphics card and a NON-GLOSSY/ANTI-GLARE screen.

Which line should I get, and what is the best place to find the best discount?

    Thanks in advance.

    T61p.

The best discount is gonna be with an EPP, I think, if you can get it. There are threads around here that will give different ways to get discounts. right now they are 25% off on top of any discounts you can find which is a really good deal.

well it sounds like you would want at least a t61 level of notebook.

t61 comes in a couple of flavors that have a discrete graphics card (nvidia)

the normal t61 with discrete graphics has an nvidia quadro nvs 140m that has 128 megs of ram.

Theres the workstation t61p that has I believe 2 nvidia cards to choose from with more memory and a few more architecture features enabled. I would honestly go to the lenovo website and tinker around there for a bit to get a better understanding.

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for in a laptop. The Lenovo site has a decent run-down of what the different series of laptops:
R series - Mainstream performance and features at a great price, with new models that are ideal for the home office.

T series - The perfect balance of performance and portability, including ISV-certified mobile workstations.

X series - Ultimate portability and battery life for mobile users – including the new, ultra-functional ThinkPad X300.

X series tablet - The ability to function as a tablet and a notebook provides flexibility to take handwritten notes directly on the screen.

I'll go ahead and assume you're not really looking for an ultraportable and will focus on the R vs T series. In the past, there was a greater difference between the R and T series in terms of quality and options. However, now the R and T series are much more equivalent. My understandings are the following:

R61 vs. T61: pretty much the same, aside from the T61 being very slightly thinner.

(R61 and T61) vs. T61p: The biggest difference is the graphics card. While the R61 and T61 both offer NVS 140m (based on 8400m), the T61p offers the 570m (based on the 8600m). The 15.4" T61p also allows the choice of a WUXGA screen while the others do not.
